[Suggestion] Wouldn't be great a ACME spring loaded nut block?

I'm wondering how to avoid adjusting anti-backslash parts, specially when are mounted in Z axis. I made a fast mockup of a modified 8mm Nut Block, with a Weld Square nut and a spring.

Do you think it would it work? and would it worth?

Alpha Rush Pro Creatine is an essential supplement when it comes to increasing muscle mass. They can give you that extra push that you need to really build muscle mass. If you plan to include dietary supplements in your routine, you must always exercise caution. Take the creatine exactly as instructed on the label, never exceeding the recommended amount.

EDIT: although I said ACME screw, I meant threaded rod, usually 1mm pitch.

Z axis rigidity

As I have started using my Ox (Cebu) more, I've noticed some flex in the z axis. At first I thought it was the x axis beams, and was planning to bolt them together. However, it seems like the x axis beams are fairly stable, and the flex is coming from the z axis components themselves. The z axis extrusion with motor on top can move back a bit without moving the x axis beams. The carriage wheels on the z axis assembly are quite tight against the x axis.

It looks like the flex is coming from...

Hi all,

I'm new here and also new to CAD software and I struggle to find my 'best' CAD software.
FreeCAD looks fine for me at this point and there are lots of 'tutorial' videos in the net, but I still not
get the workflow to work with the parts libary here from Openbuilds.

Do you have some documentation showing how to place and connect the parts to a working build ?

On a buzzword level, I think it uses contrains, but I failed to get even a V-Wheel with bearings, shim, screw, spacer etc. in...

I understand that this is an OX forum but am hoping I can get some input on the three options I have on the table. I am working on building a CNC router with my son who is 11 years old. I have some experience with a laser engraver but zero experience in the CNC router arena. I started out looking at the Xcarve and as I looked into it more, it seemed overpriced for what it was. I was able to set up my own Arduino and Gshield for about half of what they charge. I was able to get a power...

I have a 24t hacksaw and tried some flat plate and it was ugly. 32t I will buy but should the blade be backwards and cut only in one direction and not as if you were sawing down a tree? I will use a miter box and the hacksaw as I don't have the room for a chop saw and cutting aluminum is very easy by hand as long as I have (I didn't with the flat plate) something to keep my cut straight (hence the miter box).

I am about to start with my printer build so trying to get everything working in my...

Retro-fit a CNC engraver or router to make a 3D printer?

I am new to this idea, I have a Xenetech 3D printer that I have used in my shop for more than 15 years, bought it used in 2000 but the control MPU finally cratered (showy failure, lots of smoke & bad smell). At any rate Xenetech wants about $5K to repair and replace the MPU, says this one is totally obsolete. I had been using the engraver to engrave steel sideplates for machineguns, It served well for several years and would entertain the notion of setting it up to be convertible to a 3D...

Belt and Pinion vs Belt drive

I'm pretty new to this and am interested in starting my own build at some point. I would like some advice as to what is the better system for the longest axis, a belt and pinion or a belt drive.

I realise a rack and pinion is probably the best solution but if I were to use a belt what would be the best option.

Cheers
