Large deltas spotted at Pompeii?
Hey folks,
I've been running around the EU for the past couple of weeks. While visiting Pompeii I spotted two large deltas on site! ?
I haven't had a chance to look into them yet as I've just arrived home (after 22hrs of travel)
Thinking of you guys I took a photo (they were behind bars hence one angle).
Let me know if you have anything on them (Haven't had a chance to look yet).

The Hox
Hi There..
Thought id post this idea i have rattling around since the cbeam came available for what i believe could be the strongest ox yet. I'm undecided about building another at the moment as i simply don't require another but thought id share the idea.
The design is pretty rough but the fundamentals are there. Design below is 1500 x 1500 - cutting area something like 1250 x 1250

What's your maker space/workshop look like?
I'm fascinated with how different people make things. Here we have a group of people from around the world who have a love of making things and building and using CNC machines.
With the possible exception of a young guy in a city apartment that means you have someplace to work besides the kitchen table or living room floor. We all call them our workshop no matter where they are or how the rest of the family see the space. They may call it a basement or garage or utility room or just a...

GRBL Controller & Universal Gcode Sender
I just finished building OX build CNC, and am new to the CNC world. I tried using both software and my problems are: Universal Gcode Sender- First: When I jog the motors they move in the right direction, but when I load a test file and run it, the CNC moves to the back right corner and starts from there.
Second: Using the GRLB Controller - When I try to jog it I get an error undefined feed rate. How do I fix this? What should the GRBL setting be, and is there some information that explains the...

bCNC and the Raspberry Pi
A few months ago, I spent a week or two testing out different GUIs that will run on the Raspberry Pi (RPi). These included: Universal Gcode Sender (UGS), Chilipeppr, GrblWeb, and bCNC.
I tested these, because I wanted to get my nice laptop out of the dust and metal chips. Since the RPi is $30-$35, has DVI out/USB/Ethernet, and is fanless, this seemed like perfect solution. If it breaks, no big deal. Just swap it out.
After testing, I found that only two of the four GUIs worked under...

Small 3-wheel plate for 40mm sections
I've seen several comments lamenting the lack of a small 3-wheel plate for use with 40mm sections (mainly among the delta printer crowd) and as it turns out, the hole spacing in the Idler Pulley Plates is ideal for use with mini-V wheels and if you are willing to ream out one of the holes these plates are easily modded for just such a purpose. I used a step bit and the plate cut like butter.

Diode for cutting veneer?
It would be great to have a nice CO2 laser but my main laser cutting projects now involve cutting 0.6mm thick wood veneers. I'm curious as to the ability of laser diodes to cut through wood this thin and at what expected speeds.

Foam Cutter......need double sided V-rail
Hi all.
I'm a graphic designer/sheep farmer/bluegrass musician in Florida and am just getting into CNC. I have been reading up on it for quite awhile but this is my first project. The 5 -axis controller is built, tested and ready. I basically just have to finish the Y axis, mount the drag chains, run the wires and load the software. I plan to try it with Mach3 to begin with, then later upgrade to something else if needed.
All of this is made from 8020 15 series except the trusses in the center...

Who still sells this coupler?
My 2 year old 5x5 couplers looked like this but I can't find them anymore and now I need them in 5 x 8mm. I need it where it will lock around the acme and will lock around the stepper's shaft BUT it also needs a screw to go against the flat or it will be worthless to me.
There is the video at the spot showing the coupler: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLKDa4V2ZIo&t=780

Ooznest OX CNC Machine for sale...
Hey guys,
I have an Ooznest OX CNC for sale. It's a completely built/working/running machine with all electronics. It is ready to be turned on and machine a part. I have only used it to make 2 items...one wood and one aluminum. I will post some pictures this evening so you can see what I have. It uses the xPRO CNC Controller. You get the entire shabang! Router too! Which is a Bosch Colt Router. I wired everything meticulously and this thing not only works perfectly, it looks great too. Let me...

Question about belts and pulleys.
I have been playing in SW for a few weeks and something is really bothering me and that is that I can't find a way to make the GT2 belt line up straight with any plate using 20mm x 20mm V-Rail. We have the pulley and we have the Nema 17 with a toothed gear and the nema plate and what I don't like is the idea of the belt (either under or over) going at an angle to the V-Slot 20mm Gantry plate. The closer the plate gets to the pulling side the more the plate will try and follow the belt so if...
