Software & calibrating

I am new to CNC builds (haven't heard that before). My build is similar to Marks OX but the size is different I have a 60" x 30" OX router built. I'm running the CNC xPRO Driver controller. I have downloaded GRBL and Universal GCode sender. GRBL isn't controlling the controller at all. Universal GCode sender was stepping all the axis, but was going like 5" at 1mm step setting. I used ShapeOko Grbl settings calculator to try to calibrete it, and now it gust looks...

Questions about accuracy and how to increase it

Hello everyone,
I'm new and I'm looking forward to this world of mini CNC milling machines, but I'm a polymechanic and have been instructed on CNC milling machines and lathes, although I did not use it for several years.
I would like to inform me about the accuracy of these machines (especially the C-beam that I think that it's the most accurate) and if there is some way to increase it.
Looking in the forum I found that the C-beam can reach an accuracy of 0.04mm, there is a posibility to...

Hidden Connections

This is just a simple idea I was thinking about regarding non-structural hidden connections. Overall the connections seem relatively stout as the screw head has a reasonable amount of plastic locked below it inside the track but the PLA they were made with is too slick and the joint has a tendency to slide no matter how tight the fit is. As soon as I get a heated bed working I will make another attempt in ABS.

I wonder if the V extrusion will ever be released in Steel
I would like to use extrusions that are 2500mm long to build a 4' x 8' table.

Hello Open Builds Community!

I'm the lead developer of the Grbl CNC project, which is the firmware that runs most of the Arduino/AVR-based CNC machines out there. Mark Carew has recently brought me on board, and I'll be available to answer any Grbl-related questions or help troubleshoot problems here on this forum.

Please feel free to start a new thread. Thanks!

I have been working on a 3D printer design using Inventor for a final project. I have a gantry and 6 solid v-wheels set-up in the 20x80 v-slot positions. For the life of me I can't get the wheel to follow the track like it's supposed to. I'm not the most experienced using Inventor but I'm pretty good at the software. Please if anybody can help me I would be greatly appreciative!! Thanks so much for your time! I hope to hear from someone soon...Time is of the essence...

£10 oil lubrication pump

hello, again another post of mine that I'm not sure is going to be of interest to anyone but here goes my cheap ass solution/experiment to an automatic oil lubrication pump setup.

Simply a fridge compressor and a fish tank airline splitter, works brilliantly. Even shuts it's self of after pumping an inch or so of oil through the pipes and repeats after 2mins, think it's some sort of protection built into these things.

I find one pump is enough 10w30 to...

Proto gantry plate material?

I'm working on the final design bits of my first cnc mill and i've realized that I'm going to have to make some crude gantry plates by hand before i can have the mill 'self upgrade'

I've heard about mdf for a lot of the early gantry plates but are there any other materials to consider? I was thinking about going to the dollar store and taking a look at their cutting boards.

My plan was to get a piece of material some what close to the dimensions i needed and drill the holes as accurate as...

Limit switches and negative coordinates with TinyG.

Happy Sunday

So I decided I wanted to put some homing switches on my OX CNC. I put one on the front of the frame for the Y axis. The switch works but Im not sure the front even though the tinyg documentation says it should be is the right place. When I tell it to home Y it always heads to the back of the machine. I tried swapping the motor polarities in the firmware wondering if that controlled what direction it would home in but no dice. It still wants to go to the back. Also when I...

Help with a RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller on 3d printer

Hi friends. I don't normally add a digital display of any kind to the printers I build, but I thought that I'd try one on my latest effort. The problem is that I just can't seem to get one to work at all. I've followed the setup info I found on the vendors website, added U8glib and added it in other places I thought it might go, but no matter where it is I get a prompt from the Ardrino IDE that it can't find it when compiling.

Now, I'm the first one to admit that I am NOT a programmer of...
