Shapeko 2/ Xcarve using VSlot
Hi, I am new to the forum and CNC in general. I have been exploring to build a hobby CNC and after a lot of looking around, narrowed on Shapeko 2/ Xcarve type design. I wanted to check if anyone has built Shapeko 2/ Xcarve using 20x40 Vlsot? Other than simplicity, 20x40 & 20x20 is the only Vlsot available in my country, so the reason for choosing this design.

X and Y axes perpendicularity
Is there a secret to keeping the x and y axes perpendicular to one another? When the machine is off they will get out of alignment if bumped.

Some Tutorial for CAD beginners for FreeCAD available ?
Hi all,
I'm new here and also new to CAD software and I struggle to find my 'best' CAD software.
FreeCAD looks fine for me at this point and there are lots of 'tutorial' videos in the net, but I still not
get the workflow to work with the parts libary here from Openbuilds.
Do you have some documentation showing how to place and connect the parts to a working build ?
On a buzzword level, I think it uses contrains, but I failed to get even a V-Wheel with bearings, shim, screw, spacer etc. in...

Foam Cutter......need double sided V-rail
Hi all.
I'm a graphic designer/sheep farmer/bluegrass musician in Florida and am just getting into CNC. I have been reading up on it for quite awhile but this is my first project. The 5 -axis controller is built, tested and ready. I basically just have to finish the Y axis, mount the drag chains, run the wires and load the software. I plan to try it with Mach3 to begin with, then later upgrade to something else if needed.
All of this is made from 8020 15 series except the trusses in the center...

PiBot vs xPro Boards
Does anyone have any direct experience with these boards. I am trying to decide between PiBot and xpro. I have heard a few good things about both. Please let me know advantages and disadvantages of both.
What I've heard and ASSume...
1. PiBot is a bunch of little boards linked together and xpro is all in one. Would be nice to have it all in one but, it would also be nice to replace each component individually if just one part went bad.

limit switch wiring to CNC xpro
Does anyone have pictures of how they wired their CNC xpro to the limit switches. What is the best way to wire 2 limit switches to one port on the xpro. Pictures and/or schematics would be awesome.

Lead screw or belt?
Hi,
I would like to know the differences between lead screw and belt? The pros and cons. My application requires some speed. My 1st prototype is using belt and doing alright. I want to try out the C-beam with lead screw for my second prototype. I wonder if it can move as fast as the belt system using the same stepper. Any help would be appreciated.

C Beam CNC vs CNC3040
Hi guys
If anybody has experience, how does C beam plate CNC compares to classic 3040 CNC you can find on eBay? I'm interested in particular into mechanical aspect of the machines (sturdiness, precision and similar).
Why I'm asking? Well, I'm from Europe and cheapest option to get C beam CNC costs around 600 EUR ($720). For $500 I can get CNC3040 from UK, so I'm bit in the dilemma which path to take. Therefore, I'm trying to figure out (dis)advantages of both as price difference is not...

Rotary OX or C-Beam
So, I am a total noob. And because of this facts I probably dont have the terminology correct, AND I have a few questions about a build that I have in my head.
